The Harlem Globetrotters and the Manitoba Museum

Last week we went to both the Harlem Globetrotters to watch their basketball show and to the Manitoba Museum, followed by a stop at Smoke's Poutinerie for some great as always poutine.

Baking Workshop

Yesterday we held a baking workshop for our new students and anyone else who wanted to learn to bake sugar cookies and maple sticky buns.  Everyone's baking turned out really well!

Congratulations Anna!

Congratulations to Anna, who won first place in the Caring for our Watersheds contest!   Her project was #1 out of 258 entries.  She placed top 10 with her written proposal and then won the top place after her oral presentation at Oak Hammock Marsh for her proposal "Greener Paving".  Her next step will be to implement the project in a section of the Westwood Collegiate parking lot.  Way to go!

Spring Break

This past week was Spring Break, and we had a couple of activities while school was out.  On Monday we went to The Forks and on Wednesday we checked out Across the Board cafe in the Exchange District, a cultural hub and beautiful part of the city.

And welcome to the new students we have starting this week!

Lunch at Carnaval!

One of the favourite activities we do is going to Carnaval Brazilian restaurant for lunch.  We try to go each semester, and 30 of us went last Friday on a day off school.  The food is always great and everyone has a good time.  Thanks to Carnaval for accommodating our large noisy group and letting stay a long time!

Recent Activities

It has been a busy end to winter here (yes, we are going to just assume it's over!).  We went to the Festival du Voyageur at the end of February, probably the coldest time we have had all year, but that is part of the experience!

Then we went to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights the first week of March.  They currently have a free evening the first Wednesday of every month, and it is a great time to tour the museum.
