Pirates at the Manitoba Museum
Several students came out to the Manitoba Museum on Friday to see the regular exhibits along with the Real Pirates exhibit. This exhibit has artifacts and treasure from a real pirate ship that sank nearly 300 years ago. It is a fascinating look at life on a real pirate ship and worth seeing.
Also on display in the lobby, no admission needed, are the Victoria Cross medals awarded almost 100 years ago to three Winnipeg soldiers in the First World War. They will be on display until November 14th.

Goodbye to our Middle School Group!
Our Brazilian middle schoolers left on Friday, but before leaving we had one last activity, a tour of a fire hall, which was interesting and a lot of fun.
Thanks to everyone at the fire hall for such a great visit.
Then, Friday evening, we went to watch the University of Winnipeg men's soccer team play. The game was outdoors and it was freezing, but it was fun to watch, and there was a Tim Horton's close by!

Our Brazilian Middle School Group
This is week 2 of our middle school group from Brazil, and everyone has been busy! We went to Walking with Dinosaurs on Friday, a movie on Saturday, and the Zoo yesterday. Students were also busy with their homestay families over the Thanksgiving weekend. Today, the students gave a presentation about Brazil to their fellow grade 7 students at Lincoln Middle School. Only two more days until it is time to return home!

Welcome our Lincoln Middle School Brazilians!
This week a group of students from Brazil arrived to spend two weeks at Lincoln Middle School, and also to experience a bit of Winnipeg. Today, the school division's Hockey Academy invited the group to try out ice skating and playing hockey. The Winnipeg Jets kindly helped us out with equipment staff, who were amazing. We had a tour of the MTS Iceplex facilities, spent time on the ice with the hockey academy students from George Waters Middle School, and then even got to watch the Winnipeg Jets practice. A huge thank you to Mr. Sobkowicz from the Hockey Academy and True North and the Winnipeg Jets.
