Free Winter Activities in Winnipeg
The Toronto Star just published some info for tourists about the great free things to do in Winnipeg this winter. You can read the article HERE.
Lunch at Hermano's
This past Friday we went to Hermano's Restaurant for a South American lunch. There was no feijoada left after we were there.
Also in November, we went to see the Manitoba Opera's Rigoletto. It was a great production, and a long evening, too, as the opera was 3 hours long with 2 intermissions. It was good to see so many students come out for the experience.

Around Winnipeg this Weekend
Camerata Nova will hold a free Christmas concert this weekend, Christmas in Early America.
Camerata Nova is a vocal group without fear, performing medieval, Renaissance, Aboriginal and contemporary music. Often singing a cappella, the group also enjoys accompaniment from didgeridoos, crystal bowls, strings, all kinds of percussion, and/or early instruments. Now in their 14th year, they continue to push the envelope, offering authentic early music performances, premieres of Manitoba compositions and an eclectic array in between.
Also this weekend is an annual Christmas craft show at the Winnipeg Convention Centre downtown, with hundreds of artisans selling handmade items, local and from across Canada. Admission is also free.
There is also the Winnipeg Aboriginal Film Festival, University of Manitoba Bisons men's and women's volleyball and men's hockey, and University of Winnipeg Wesmen men's and women's volleyball.

Santa Claus Parade This Weekend
Remember we will be meeting this Saturday to watch the annual Santa Claus Parade Now with all this snow it feels more like time for it. We will meet at 5:00 right on Portage Avenue downtown, next to the Bay in front of the Tim Horton's, so we are really close for getting hot chocolate! Dress warmly.

Boo at the Zoo
This past weekend we went to Boo at the Zoo. Even though it was snowing a little bit, we had a lot of people show up.
We also went to an NBA game last week, but there was no battery left in my camera! We have a lot of activities coming up in November, so keep checking in to see what we've been doing.

It's Been Busy!
I haven't posted recently because it has been a busy few weeks. At the end of September we went to see a Winnipeg Blue Bombers football game. It was an awful game but a really nice evening.
We also had our last Canadian Cooking and Living class of the first semester.
And we also had poutine...
..and visited the Mantioba Musem.
Finally, thank you to those who have sent me some pictures. It is great to see students enjoying themselves around Winnipeg and with their homestay families.
